If you’re concerned about your privacy, please read this……

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a
telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you’ll be given
the person’s name and address. If you then hit Map Quest, you’ll get a
map to the person’s house. Everyone should be aware of this! It’s a
nationwide reverse telephone book. (If a child gives out his/her phone
number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives.
The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.)

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried
my number and it came up along with the map quest and directions straight
to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage
all of you to do the same. Quite scary. Please look up your own number.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to Google at:
www.google.com http://www.google.com/ Type your phone number in the
search bar and hit enter.

If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply
click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal
takes 48 hours.

I received this email from a friend today and tried it myself.
She’s right, it works.

My post is in the politics section because this is where I happen to hang
Out and I thought I would share this with you. Some of you may have been
aware of this, but I was not.

Do you consider this to be an invasion of your privacy?
I apologize for the way this looks. I did a copy and paste on the email. Big UGH for how broken up it ended up being.

A collection agency as plaintiff against me. I couldn’t find a telephone number for the company. However I did a reverse find on the address provided to me by the court. It belonged to a home. I called and the woman was very nervous and asked that I not have an attorney call their home to please wait for her husband to contact me. Shouldn’t all business have a telephone number contact and even be listed?

I was in a sheetz parking lot in Akron Ohio. I just filled up my tank. A police officer pulling into the lot saw me begin to pull away from the pumps with some dusting of snow on my window. I was turning around a pump as he was coming towards me. We both stopped. He did not move, I was forced to back up to get around him. As I did so, he rolled down his window and told me to take 3 minutes and clear your window assuming the snow is what caused us from obstructing us in the parking lot. I said I could see just fine, I thought I heard him say or I could take you to jail but according to him he said or I could cite you. I brushed off the snow from my window and he rolled past. Then, my anger set in. Thinking that he had threatened to take me to jail for this, I put the car in reverse and pulled up to him. I rolled down my window and asked him for his badge number and a telephone number to call his superior. He told me the Police Department, I asked for the non emergency line # and he refused to give it to me. While dialing 411 he asked for my ID. One of his superiors pulled up while I was on the phone, he tried to tell me that anything I say to the sargent on the phone will just come right back to him. I ignored him and proceeded with my phone call. I explained the situation to the sargent on the phone, while they wrote me a ticket. I felt that I the p/o was threatening to jail me in order to intimidate me. I felt also that, since I requested his badge number, he retaliated by writing me a ticket. I never entered the a public street. They took pictures of my window. My question, is this a moving violation and can I get out of this? Any suggestions?

I was curious — other than ‘whitepages.com’ and other similar sites that give the same results — what other Free, and Subscription sites are there for finding phone numbers by persons name, (or sometimes address) — Perhaps a reverse lookup and so on.

I ask this for my business.. I am often in need of calling old clients from years back and my paper work from that time usually has some information but not the telephone number (or they have moved). So it hurts both myself and the client in the services I offer.. simply because whitepages doesn’t provide me with what I need most of the time. (Of course).

I just thought maybe some of you had some better ideas for me to try. I wouldn’t even mind paying a small fee monthly if the service worked much better than the freebies — Or perhaps there are some hidden gems of websites to provide local information such as this?

Thank you for any help you can provide.
